About

UC Berkeley has a long tradition of operating a student-run Anthropology journal. In 1950, UC Berkeley Anthropology created the “Kroeber Anthropological Society” or “KAS,” one of the oldest student-run Anthropology journals in the country. The Handprint was inspired by this foundation, with the mission to document, share, and support UC Berkeley student/faculty research from both inside and outside the Anthropology department. Operating under a holistic and inclusive philosophy—fitting for such a vibrant discipline—we welcome submissions from UC Berkeley students/faculty of any academic background whose research aligns with the overall mission of Berkeley Anthropology.

I am a first-generation college student completing my undergraduate degree in Anthropology. My academic focus is socio-environmental, including natureculture themes, multispecies ethnography, climate change, and border studies. I am currently writing my senior honors thesis based on my ethnographic work in Gozo, Malta, focussing on small-scale fishers and how climate change and the legacies of colonialism impact coastal peoples.

Outside of my studies, I enjoy taking care of my plants and hanging out with my cat, Turtle!
