UC Berkeley has a long tradition of operating a student-run Anthropology journal. In 1950, UC Berkeley Anthropology created the “Kroeber Anthropological Society” or “KAS,” one of the oldest student-run Anthropology journals in the country. The Handprint was inspired by this foundation, with the mission to document, share, and support UC Berkeley student/faculty research from both inside and outside the Anthropology department. Operating under a holistic and inclusive philosophy—fitting for such a vibrant discipline—we welcome submissions from UC Berkeley students/faculty of any academic background whose research aligns with the overall mission of Berkeley Anthropology.
